The aim of this class is to introduce you to gemological instruments and identification procedures. Theory is given in relation to each instrument You learn their proper handling and you will test and identify a wide range of different gemstones. At the end of the class you will be able to identify common gemstones, their imitations and synthetics. All instruments are portable and adapted for field work. The equipment can be purchased at the end of the class A handout will be provided along with a bibliography.

The class takes 2 days from 9am - 6 pm, with one-hour lunch break.
