emphasizes on the practical part of gem identification, for both rough and cut gems. The proper handling of the instruments, the correct lecture of the readout and the correct interpretation of the results are in focus, with a detailed introduction to the underlaying theory. We work with A.Krüss Optronics instruments and the Blue Chart gemstones identification tables by Nicolas Lazzarelli. Updated Edition 2023.

The Faceting class
( gemstone cutting ) is an introduction to precision faceting. With a detailed presentation of optical properties of gemstones and the laws which describe the paths of light. The precise faceting angles, corresponding to each mineral, will be calculated. With a discussion of ideas and exploration of how to optimize brilliance and light return in faceted gemstones. Several stones will be faceted in different faceting diagrams on Ultra-Tec V5 digital faceting machines. Best light return and brilliance is the goal. All stones you cut are yours to keep. The rough is provided. All stones are natural, no synthetics.

The Concave faceting class
widens the creative potential of the faceting technique and offres unlimited possibilities for the lapidary artist. In combination with a deep understanding of the properties of light, new horizons open up. Practical experience in faceting is required to benefit fully from this class module. We work on Ultra-Tec V5 digital faceting machines and Ultra-Tec fantasy machines. All stones you cut are yours to keep. The rough is provided. All stones are natural, no synthetics.
